Breaking: Traders shut down Benin over excessive taxes

Traders in Benin shut down businesses over excessive tax regime introduced by Oredo local government.
A drive around Benin this morning reveals that all major business outlet within Benin metropolis closed up in protest to what they described as extortion by Government. It was gathered that the LG authority said it was a directive from the Edo State Government and the Edo State House of Assembly, however as at filing it is yet to be confirmed if these assertions were true.

Business owners like Uyi technical was also seen complying with the traders directive of the operation shut down , as it was also gathered that Uyi technical was giving a local government tax as high as 1million naira while shops as small as 4×5 feet were asked to pay as much as 20 thousand naira and a standard store 50 to 70 thousand naira.
